Passenger authorization

Passenger Permit
To carry passengers in gyroplanes, a passenger rating (colloquially PAX) is required. To acquire this, the following requirements must be met:

  • 3 cross-country flights (each at least 50 km)
  • 2 cross-country flights of at least 200 km accompanied by a flight instructor (with one stopover each)

The second 200 km cross-country flight with flight instructor can be counted as an examination flight.

Maintenance of the passenger rating
According to LuftPersV § 122 it has to be observed:
Within the previous 90 days, at least 3 take-offs and landings must have been performed with a gyroplane in order to be allowed to take along a passenger

Exemptions for pilots with a valid license
For applicants with a valid license for private pilots, glider pilots or pilots of other powered aircraft with a registered passenger rating, the passenger rating for gyroplanes will be registered with the license without further proof.
